The 5 Lamps by Jordan and Jonathan!

The five lamps on the north strand mean five streets which are Portland Row, Strand road, Seville place, Amiens street and Killarney street. The five lamps were put up around 1880 as a memorial to general Herny Hall from Galway who had served with the British army in India. When the Germans bombed The Nort hStrand the five lamps survived!!!and is still here to this day!
We got this information on this website:

Lego

Mr. Brennan's mother kindly donated 3 new buckets of great Lego. Here are some of the boys playing with one of the buckets.

Don't trash it, Bin it!

The world belongs to all it's plants and animals as well as us. We should keep the world clean and not drop litter on the street. Some of the boys went out to take pictures of rubbish on our street. Here are the pictures they came back with and a poster that the class made.

Autumn Trees

2 weeks ago we made Autumn trees with the help of Niall. We made a mound with some clay. Then we used broken lolly pop sticks for a fence. We painted it all and then put in a small branch to make it look like a tree. We also sprinkled small twigs on the mound to make it look more real. Here is one of our trees.

Draughts

Last week we made Draughts pieces. We cut out clay with our pencil sharpeners. Then we painted them with glue and paint. Here are some pictures of us playing with them this week.

One Halloween by James

On the interactive whiteboard the boys chose 4 picures from the group below and wrote Halloween stories based on them. Here is James' story typed by Luke. The four words they had to use are in the cross.

One Halloween I was walking down the street when I saw Mr. Brennan. He was on his motor bike and I thought that was funny. After that I went to cut out my pumpkin and I thought I would make it look like Mr.Brennan. I knew this would scare all the kids. I hoped the kids will stay in their houses. That would mean more sweets for me. THE END.

Irish Legend meets the Larrier Legends!

Yesterday we were delighted to welcome Alan Kelly into our classroom. He was a great player for Ireland and is now the coach - helping Shay Given make the saves!
It was great to have Alan Kelly in the classroom and it was nice for him to meet the Larriers Legends! From one legend to another in fifth class we reckon!!
