Trinity College
Last Monday, the first day back after our Easter holidays was difficult for us as we hadn’t been in school in three weeks. We all walked into our class and the Miss said “We are all going to Trinity College today!”
At half nine we left the school and walked to Trinity.
We were met by a girl who I named Lucinda Cobweb. She took us into the lecture theatre and there was another boy’s school in there from James Street. A boy called Alistair gave us a bar and some orange juice. We were delighted because we were thirsty from the walk.
We were divided into two groups and Alistair was with us. He brought us to the zoology department. The other school got to go and do maths roulette. A man was waiting there to tell us all about extinct, endangered and vulnerable animals in the world.
It was very interesting especially when he showed us the huge elephant tooth.
The man in charge divided the class into three groups and each group went to the different sections of the room. The first group learned about animal teeth, another group got to make a chimpanzee skeleton and the last group did a quiz on animals.
After all our hard work, we rushed down to the canteen and got lots of lovely food.
Both schools were brought outside and split up into groups to do a scavenger hunt. We had to go and find different areas of the college to answer the questions. We saw the book of kells, the old library, statues and sculptures there. Finally we all met back together and got a special stamp which means we are trinity citizens.
Overall it was a great day which we weren’t expecting.
By fifth class.

Trip to Imma

Our visit to the modern art galleryLast Thursday, we visited the Irish museum of modern art. We went on the luas to Hueston station and then walked up to the museum. The luas cost us one euro fifty for a return ticket.
When we got there we were split into two groups and shown around by two guides.
We saw a lot of different types of modern art and sculptures. I loved the moving curtain. It was made of silk and a motor twirled it around. You could go inside and feel the breeze. I thought the sculpture with the crystals and the coals was the best. It was like a river flowing out of a box.
Afterwards, they gave us some art materials so that we could make our own sculptures. Mine looked like the world cup.
I really enjoyed this trip. It was brilliant. I’d go back there again.

Trip to Bull Island
Our trip to Bull Island
Yesterday our class went on a trip to the North Bull Island. Our whole class, Ms. Wrynne, Mr. Bailey and Niall went aswell. We were going there to find out about the wildlife there and about renewable energy.
We got the 130 bus at the North Strand clinic. It didn’t leave us right at the centre and we had to walk for about twenty minutes. When we got to the interpretive centre, Pat talked to us about the different habitats, wildlife and endangered species living on the island.
After the talk he got us to work on solar powered fans. This was deadly. Then we headed for the beach to have some fun.
We walked along the beach on our way back to catch the bus. We collected all sorts of things. Dion found a sword that made sounds. Robert found a builders hat and Brandon found a dead starfish. We found plenty of shells and stones too.
We had to run to catch the bus back to school. We all had a great time on the trip. I can’t wait for the next one!

Our trip to the library
On our trip to the library we met a woman who helped us . She showed us all the different kinds of books like history , art , geography , science and so many more. She helped us find books for our projects on famous buildings in Dublin like the G.P.O, Trinity College, Connolly Station .
The second time we went up to the library we picked out our own books
and Miss Wrynne got a few flyers about Dublin zoo and tourist hot spots.
We got lots of French books to learn off for when we go to France.
When we were walking home we saw a frozen sheet of ice covering the canal, There were builders working on the canal cleaning it. In the library we had to be very quiet because other people were there reading the newspaper and fiction books .We all picked out our books and Miss Wrynne checked them out for us. We all picked brilliant books like "Twilight"(for Leroy) Tyler and Brendan got the "B F G", Dion got Georges marvellous medicine, Dylan s got "Ghosts for sale", and Robert got a great war book about trouble up the north.
At the end we all went home and read our books.
